United States citizens, aged 18 or older, are eligible to vote in United States elections.
A citizen is a person who, by place of birth, nationality of one or both parents, or naturalization is granted full rights and responsibilities as a member of a nation or political community.
Naturalization refers to granting U.S. citizenship to someone who was not originally a U.S. citizen, after their birth. This is part of Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
Register to vote.
For Michigan Citizens/Residents:
Voting location is based on the citizen's legal residence.
Once registered, the citizen will receive a Voter ID card in the mail, with the address of their local precinct.
Federal Elections take place on the First Tuesday of November in even numbered years.
There may be other elections on the First Tuesday of February, May, or August; depending on the township/city/state/political party.
Michigan In-Person voting is from 7am- 8pm on election day.
Absentee Voting is a great option for those that want to vote, but may not be able to vote in person on Election day, due to a variety of reasons.
Those signed up for the Permanent Absentee List, will always be mailed a ballot for ALL elections.
